Using Keyshot 3 for Interactive Product Demonstrations

Object VRs are interactive sequences of frames that allow the viewer to view objects from different angles. This effect can be created by taking "hemispherical" photos from rows and columns and assembling the pictures in software.

When photographing large items, tasks such as removing the background requires utilizing green screens and evenly diffused lighting, or dedicated rotoscoping software.

With Keyshot 3, photos of surfaces can be mapped onto models, and when done correctly these can look just as nice as photos.

Green screens can be exported for perfect keying, or models can be combined with panoramic backgrounds. The ease of export into programs such as Adobe Flash make it useful for creating interactive product demonstrations. Different states, such as color variations, can be easily rendered and incorporated into VRs.

Utilizing Adobe Flash to view this content is recommended. Alternative content will display below for viewers without Adobe Flash installed. Please visit this link to download Adobe Flash.

Click and drag over the watch to rotate it. Give it some time to load all of the images, it is a fairly large file. The size could be reduced by taking out some frames, but the animation would not be as smooth.

For reference, the final rendering in a movie format looks like this:

To create 360x180 models, in Keyshot make a series of animations that rotate the object so that all viewable angles are rendered.

In this example, 75 columns and 72 rows were used.
